Want to give the children a break from television, and computers and the pressure of our 'spend spend' culture? Come to Stoneywish and let them discover a world where fun is free and nobody cares what you look like. In fact wellies and old clothes are usually a good idea for kiddies here. This is the place for them to form a real attachment to the natural world, whether they are hunting mini-beasts in the meadow grass, or building a camp, or throwing food to the fish and ducks.
Why not bring a picnic and make a day of it? There are picnic tables close to the entrance, so you can leave your heavy bags in the car and explore free.
From here on you will find something for everyone in the family: gardens, exhibitions, free-range animals, and an all-ability path that takes you round the entire reserve.
Take your time to go round. The wildlife is shy but if you are patient you may see some of our special residents, herons, woodpeckers, little owls, foxes, and even deer. And of course don't miss the giant carp you can feed and the friendly farm animals that will often come up to say hello.

The large, natural Play Area has swings and slides for toddlers, a sand-pit and tyre-swings in the old oak trees, but more importantly, it has space for unlimited imaginative play. To start everyone off there is a real old tractor, and low-tech props you can use as you wish: willow huts, a wooden boat, and a wild west camp with tepee, fort and canoe, all spaced far enough apart to allow for independent games. Parents can relax with a book, or join in the fun! The setting is perfect.
